About
Zach Schepis is a Brooklyn-based writer, musician, and filmmaker. In 2023 he founded Umbra, a Bushwick music venue for artists, by artists. The space hosted live music five nights a week for two years. In 2026 it became 785 Hart, a variety playhouse.
He plays guitar in three distinctly different bands: Spicy Dreams, Blahsum, and Gridline. He was a journalist for more than a decade, and former Editor in Chief of BTR. Some of his notable interviews include Meryl Streep, Malcolm Gladwell, and Jeff Bridges.
Zach is also a filmmaker, and his debut feature, Basic Bitch Aliens, was just greenlit for production and funded for $25 million. When he's not working on one of his creative projects, you can find him surfing at Rockaway Beach.
